1. What We Collect
Focal Links collects only the minimum data required to provide the service:
- Account information — your email address and a hashed password, managed by Firebase Authentication (Google)
- Saved links — the URLs, titles, and tags you choose to save
- Usage metadata — save dates and import history, used to power Insights features
- Support messages — if you contact support, the message content and your account info are sent to our support inbox
2. What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not track your browsing history
- We do not read page content beyond the URL and title at the moment you click Save
- We do not sell, share, or rent your data to any third party
- We do not use your data for advertising
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to provide the Focal Links service:
- Storing and displaying your saved links across devices
- Generating the Insights features (reading queue, content DNA, signals)
- Responding to support requests
4. Data Storage
All data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted in the United States. Firebase is subject to Google's privacy and security standards. Your data is stored under your unique user ID and is not accessible to other users.
5. Permissions Used by the Extension
- activeTab — reads the URL and title of the current tab only when you click the Save button
- contextMenus — adds a right-click "Save to Focal Links" menu option
- scripting — injects a brief script to extract the page title when saving
- storage — keeps you logged in between browser sessions
- notifications — shows a confirmation after a link is saved

7. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. To delete your account and all associated data, email us at alfredmiko9@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my account". We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
Focal Links is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
